N&W 611 Headlight

can I ask if whoever sent that pic of 611 with the new light can resend it please? I would like to share it with my club in Valdese, NC. thanks. tony putnam

   I don't believe 611 is being displayed with a
auxiliary water tender. There's one behind the 1218
which is correct for a Class A in the 50s. The point
I am trying to get across is the 611 is a machine of
the 40s and 50s .In a Museum it should be historically
correct. You would not display a Model T with a Sony
radio in it would you.

> Good to know that they kept the twin seal beam.  I personally always liked it, but again, it's what I grew up with.  611's history did not stop with her retirement in 1959, so the museum and railfan community should be interested in preserving all aspects of her history, including the modifications for excursion service.  After all, if the excursion years don't count, we might as well scrap the auxiliary water tender.  As for the reasoning of the twin seal beam, I understand it was so that replacement light bulbs from any diesel shop could be used, as opposed to specialty ones kept in Irondale.
