LOCAL OFFICE INSPECTED
------
Western Union Officials Come to Bluefield in Special Car

A. O. Sanford, general superintendent of the eastern division of New York; E. M. Mulford, division commercial superintendent, of New York; W. C. Walstrum, Norfolk and Western superintendent of telegraph, and J. S. Calvert, commercial superintendent of the Richmond division of Richmond, were in the city yesterday for a short time inspecting the Western Union office here. They came to this city on a special car attached to train No. 2 after a trip of inspection over the road. The party left this city in their special car on their way west. As a result of the official visit to this city another operator will be employed and extra wire service given to Bluefield. It is likely that another duplex wire will be installed and other methods adopted to rush business at this point.
Bluefield is fast becoming a very important point for the Western Union and now that the night letter service is being thoroughly understood the night business is almost as heavy as the day business.
