IN CITY AND COALFIELD
------
Baggage Car Burned
The baggage car of train No. 15 leaving here Saturday morning at 8:10 caught fire in front of the passenger station at Portsmouth Saturday evening and was completely destroyed. It was with difficulty the other cars of the train were saved. Nothing was gotten out of the car except the express company's safe. The loss is said to be many thousands of dollars, as the car was well laden with trunks of passengers and express.

[Aw, the romance of the days of wooden railroad cars.]
