IN CITY AND COALFIELD
------
Work on New Roundhouse
The workmen employed in constructing the new roundhouse are making very good headway and the brickwork is now getting to the point where it can be easily seen from the street. The new house will be considerably larger than the old one, around which it is being built. In order to meet with the company demands, land had to be purchased from the city on Hardy street, so the buildings could be put up.
------
Railroad Employes Paid
Yesterday, the railroad company commenced to pay off the local employes so they could have their money for Thanksgiving. The pay rolls during the past year have been unusually large, but unless coal market conditions show a decided improvement it is likely that December will not be a very heavy month.
