IN CITY AND COALFIELD
------
Witnesses Summoned
United States marshals were yesterday serving subpoenas on witnesses to appear at federal court in Huntington on April 2nd in the case of Cassell & Elliott, the Norfolk and Western boarding bosses, who are charged with violating the interstate commerce law.
------
[An earlier article identified Cassell & Elliot as being something like a contractor who furnished boarding facilities for N&W employees, and it stated that it was alleged that Cassell & Elliot received free transportation of supplies from the N&W.]
------
Colored Man Killed in Wreck
Gentry Walker, colored, was killed yesterday morning at St. Clair [just west of Graham, VA, on the Clinch Valley line] when a Norfolk and Western freight train was wrecked. Walker was found pinned between two cars and it is believed he was stealing a ride to Bluefield. He was a native of Boone's Mills, Va., and his remains were brought to this city. The wreck delayed traffic for several hours and passengers on train No. 12 and 11 had to transfer so as to continue the trips to Bluefield or Norton and intermediate points.
