Anybody know how many motors an SD70Mac has? I mean ALL of them,

Bob Pilcher was fond of saying that a Y-6 had eighteen or nineteen engines

People say change is good. I like the
term motors better then units. I often here the pocky dispatcher

say "Tie your horses up and lock the doors"
Of course that works on NS I don,t know how that would workout

Just
to confuse things more, theoretically, the diesel motor on the diesel-electric
locomotive is properly called the ?prime mover? as it supplies mechanical work
to the generator/alternator , then the electricity to the electrical
transmission components and drive motors on the
locomotive.

"The
times they are 'a changin'".

Well,
actually, already changed. I heard them called motors for years on the yard.
But Jimmy is right, in that they were most commonly referred to as units. Then
I worked with one conductor who almost always called them .....what
else?....."Diesels".

You are right
Richard. Back when I was in freight, many engineers, one in particular named
Charlie Linkous always referred to the consist as
motors.

MOTORS?

Where I come from,
electrics were called motors. Diesels were
not.

A couple of
interesting motors arrived at Bristol today. #3522 was 2nd on 819; 8734 led
22A (with a much cleaner, newer 1027 following).
