Dinky Line

This is a Grand Trunk Western train coming out of the GTW depot at Brush St on the East side of Detroit.  He is coming out the GTW line from Brush St. going to Milwaukee Jct.
  Fort St. Union Depot served the C&O, WAB, PRR, CPR (at times) and B&O (at times).

GTW had its own depot in downtown Detroit, but from the background in the photo, this appears to have been taken at Fort Street Union Depot, now long gone.

 Here is a photo from my collection taken from about the same       
 location in May of 1959. The phptographer's name I believe is       
 Washington. The photo was in a pocket in a large bulletin book that       
 was given to my Dad when he retired, signed and with notes and cards       
 from many GTW folks from Detroit and Pontiac. A nice shot of better       
 times in Detroit. Probably train #72 judging by the shadows.
