No, it was C&O, but they didn't actually go into Ft. Eustis. They
interchanged with the Ft. Eustis operation, run by the 714th, at Lee Hall.

Hey, I see by the dates we may have overlapped. I was at Eustis
1966-1969, six months of OCS then commanded a desk for two years assigned to TEA.
The 714th helped me several times running tests for transportability
criteria, which was TEA's main mission. Small world.

Regards,

Until the 1959 merger with the VGN, I suspect N&W did not directly
serve Norfolk-NOB. But there was one occasion when N&W, and
others stepped up to serve the Navy Base. Home port for 33 ships
had been moved from Norfolk to the West Coast. On January 14, 1955,
N&W operated a second section of No. 3 to transfer the wives and
children of the Navy men to Long Beach and San Diego. The train
consisted of 17 cars (an N&W baggage car, N&W 539, 2 diners,
11 Pullmans, and two other cars) hauled by engine 612. Harry Bundy
