Chase,

Thanks for the update on Wilcoe yard. I am curious about how NS serves the loader at Litwar now that Auville is closed. The job to Litwar was one of the few mine runs operating out of Auville when I visited the area during 2013. Also, does NS still run through trains on the Dry Fork Branch between Auville and Cedar Bluff? Any updates on the Dry Fork Branch operations would be appreciated.

Thanks again,
Russ Gaus

Subject: Current Operations at Wilcoe

Wilcoe Yard was reopened in 2014 after Auville Yard was closed. Wilcoe Crews work Mid-Vol (U.S. 14) at Munson on the Tug Fork Branch, Black Wolfe (U.S. No.8) at Elbert on the Sand Lick Branch, Arcelor-Mittal's Plant on Dans Branch, Bluestone Coal's Operation in Eckman Yard and Southern Coal's plant at Craft on the Jacobs Fork Branch. Wilcoe typically gets the wrong end of the stick with Bluefield doing much of their work. Shifter crews there use the the U22-U26 IDs while their pushers use the J50 & J51 IDs. It still makes no sense to me why they shut Auville down and reopened Wilcoe. I'v heard a few stories on why they did that but I don't know which one is true.
