This adds to Ed's information.  Here are each engine number and when taken 
out of service on N&W.

    Class B was no. 61, scrapped at Roanoke 7-1934
    Class A was no. 90, scrapped at Roanoke 9-1928
    Class J was no. 606, dismantled at Roanoke 9-1933
    Class W-2 was 729, sold to Raleigh Lumber 6-1925

There was a class A 4-6-0. a class B cross compound 2-8-0, a class J 4-4-2
and a class W-2 standard 2-8-0 (I don't have their numbers in front of me).
After the exposition they returned to the N&W and went to work.
