Charlie:
I managed to open  the Google map showing the Dan River bridge (Bridge
#1893)
and it is west (geographic that is) of the golf course, but I'll tell you,
I have doubts
about the accuracy of that line showing the railroad.  Southward, the
7-degree curve
ends exactly where the north end of the 152' thru truss begins. A mile and
a half
beyond the bridge was the junction of the Belews Creek spur and it didn't
even show.

Anyway, here's a photo made in August, 1972 on the 10-degree curve south of
the
bridge.  Unfortunately it doesn't show the curvature on the north side of
the span
