The area of Williamson was the location that the coal came from for the 1947 coal test I previously referred to.

Not a system-wide statistic, but you probably remember that there was a mine
in the Thacker Mine District that delivered coal directly in buckets to N&W's
coaling station at Williamson.  N&W's Coal and Coke Manual (1965 edition)
shows that the Pond Creek Seam had coal that delivered 13,800-14,500 B.T.U.
per pound.  Ash content was 5-8%.                           Harry Bundy
