Bud,

The May 1926 issue of the NW magazine (p.362) agrees with this. It states that V&T TT No.14 June 14 1866 shows this station as Shawsville and later the AM&O annual report of 1877 list this station as Alleghany. The article continues "Apparently its name was changed for some reason and then subsequent to 1877 it was again given its present name."

Trivia: What is the current name of 'Buford's'?

Abram,

The V&T RR Time Table dated "on and about" May 1st, 1856 states "Shawsville". Must have been changed to Alleghany after that and then back to Shawsville by 1882.

I went through the Official Guides.

Last T.T. available showing name "Alleghany" is 7/3/1881.

First T.T. available showing name "Shawsville" is dated 7/19/1882.
