The 10-1-1 was 10 sections, I drawing room and 1 compartment (in that order) N&W owned two of them: Island Rose and Island Regal. When new, they had been assigned to the Rock Island. Apparantly for a time they ran along with the 10-6 car, but were later dropped.

Jim Brewer stated: "Trains No.1/2, referred to as the Shenandoah Valley Route, provided through Pullman service between Roanoke and New York. Additionally, there was through coach service between Roanoke and Harrisburg.  The sleeper and through coach would be routed at Hagerstown via the Pennsylvania Railroad.  In April 1952 the Pullman was 10-6 or 10-1-1 per the Guide. Routing to New York on PRR was Hagerstown, Harrisburg, Philadelphia, Trenton, Newark and New York."

Was the "10-6 or 10-1-1" ten sections or ten roomettes?  Were the "1-1" a drawing room and a compartment?
