The Arrow arrived at Millbrae Ca today in a plastic bag the the PO put it in as it was torn in half. unable to read. I have had my C&O mag. come the same way and about 90% come with some type of damage, but this is the first time i got one in two parts, a top and bottom part.

Yes, the Arrow used to be shipped in an envelope. I get many magazines in plastic wrappers or paper envelopes and I get many with nothing covering them. I'm sure the paper envelope adds cost and adds time to getting the magazines to us.

I also have to say that the magazines I get in some sort of wrapper don't arrive with any bent. torn or soiled pages. Magazines with no protection often suffer with bent , torn and soiled pages.

What's the answer? I can't say as I'm not in the loop making any decisions. I can say I get pretty POed when my anxiously awaited magazines arrive damaged. Often to the point they are worthless to me.

My latest Arrow arrived with a couple ripped pages. I like to keep all my railroad HS magazines so having them arrived in a less-than-perfect condition is a big bother to me.

I'm sure the amount of damage can also be attributed to the PO centers and local post offices too. When I lived in Scum City (Houston, TX) for 35 years I had many, many issues with damaged mail be it covered, 1st class, parcel, media mail or whatever. Here in NW Arkansas I haven't had much problem with any mail for the past 5 years. Some PO centers and local PO's probably have different standards they go by.

My vote is for some sort of protection.
