Sometime between 1953 and 1955, No. 16 was combined with No. 22 at
Petersburg. The Cannonball crew forwarded No. 16's consist to Norfolk,
and the crew from Roanoke/Crewe laid over at Petersburg for about six
hours. Plenty of time for poker and sin. Harry Bundy

The Cannonballs were supposedly the best passenger engine crew jobs on the Norfolk and Western. They’d get their mileage in by the 22nd of the month, and have the rest of the month for vacation.
