Lynn.

There was a W. E. Hill engineer on the Norfolk Division that ran from 
Crewe to Norfolk.  He was promoted to engineer on Jan. 24 1916.

There was also a W. E. Hill on the Shenandoah Division. He was hired as 
a Fireman on April 30, 1916 and promoted to engineer on July 12, 1942.

Not sure if they were related. Was your W. Hill from Crewe?  If so 
perhaps the Norfolk division man was his father.

To complicate things there were a lot of people with the same last name 
on the N&W and even a W. L. Hill on the VGN New river line.
