Virginian PA locomotive speed

The only way a dispatcher’s train sheet can accurately measure speed is if it was one of those US&S machines with a moving graph that automatically recorded a train passing a given control point.  If the dispatcher relies on operator’s OS reports several inaccuracies can be introduced into the mix. _____________________________________________________________________Kinda strange, but the Pocahontas Division - PD District dispatcher'strain sheets on file at the archives show OS's rounded to the closest5 minutes .
