Fw: Last N&W Y3 Location-News from the Illinois Railway Museum

Here’s a link with a decent photo of it. When I went there in the mid-1980’s, it was hard to get a good photo of it with all the other trains around it. The good thing is it’s been inside out of the cold and snowy Illinois winters. https://i.redd.it/5vxqmj7v1zs31.jpg

Yes, 2050 (actually the Y3a class engine) has been at IRM since the late 1970's

Greetings,
Brad Dobbins just informed me that the last surviving N&W Y3 is located in the Illinois Railway Museum. Wow, I had no idea! Sometimes I feel like I live on a deserted island. Thanks to Brad and my other friends that keep me informed about these things! Ha! The UP Snow Plow restoration looks nice.
Regards,
Norris

Norris,

Just in case someone is in the area visiting or railfanning. Also need to remember that the last N&W Y3 is in this museum.

Union Pacific rotary repainted

Major painting work has been completed on Union Pacific 900075, the museum's iconic rotary snow plow, and its tender, pictured here. IRM volunteers have worked for over a year to effect a full cosmetic restoration of this distinctive piece of equipment. More work remains to be done on windows and other components though.
