The car was the only survivor of the class of six cars of BPe cars. It is number 600, sold for scrap about 1960 to Pulaski scrap yard, resold by them about 1979 to a new restaurant and hotel going up near Blacksburg.

Car was cut in half to move it there. When the hotel closed down, and was being prepared to be torn down, some of the Roanoke Chapter folks began to talk with the contractor taking the place down. Initially, he was planning to sell the car, or move it to a camp. He was convinced it was worth a lot of money. But it became a lot harder and more expensive to move.

Roanoke Chapter folks got him to agree to donate the car, then got the Lynchburg Crane who graciously donated the cranes on both ends and the trucking move to bring it to Roanoke. Chapter members did a huge amount of work to prep the car for movement, now the mission for them is to find a suitable under frame and trucks at an acceptable price (read donation) to place it back on the track.

There will be a story on the car in an upcoming TAF.
