Jim King,  You are correct. The date of the photo is listed as September 7,
1956.

 

Jawn Henry's tender is by itself at Shaffers because 2300 is in Roanoke
Shops for repair following a No.1 main traction generator failure while
pushing Extra 2143-2158 on Blue Ridge August 23, 1956. The rebuilt generator
was not received from Westinghouse until December 13. Obviously Jawn Henry
was still a priority for the Motive Power Department at this time as repair
work continued into early Christmas morning. It was not returned to service
until Dec 29. Troubles continued New Year's Day and into early January.
