> Agreed! The last couple of years of The Arrow have been brilliant! This is a beautifully designed publication, with wonderful use of color and form to present all sorts of interesting information on the N&W and Virginian. The high quality of the paper and the photos and text and maps is just about the best around!

Also, on a smaller scale, the Newsliner from the Rutland Railroad Historical Society is a real gem. I?m sure everyone has their favorites - some of which I?ve probably never seen.

The latest issue of "Trains" magazine indicates Amtrak operated a Cincinnati-Roanoke-Norfolk train, the Mountaineer, until 1977. The Hilltopper, a Cincinnati-Roanoke-Richmond, VA train, operated until 1979. Did these trains use the N&W line across southern Ohio between Cincinnati and Portsmouth? I lived near the "Peavine line" during this time, but never recall seeing an Amtrak train. Maybe I was just never trackside when they went through Batavia, OH where I lived. If they used the N&W across southern Ohio, does anyone know what their schedules were? Thanks

Echoing the above.

I just got around to opening my issue. I have to take exception to your caption for the photo at the bottom of page 10. I had to get out a magnifying glass but that doesn't look like McDowell County to me. So how can I get a good copy of that photo for my collection?
