E3 locomotives

Abe

We only have bits and pieces of history.  What about the second life of 
locomotive boilers.  Three of the 5 Y1 class were converted to 
stationary boilers.  Two at Roanoke and one at Bristol roundhouses.  Why 
were three chosen for conversion to stationary boilers?
