O and O

The Sunset M would not have been done if it weren't for the Strasburg version. It is what carried the whole run. The Ms are scarce to find and are going for PREMIUM prices. The M2 will not be made
as it is believed there is not enough support. Kohs purchased the plans for the K1 from the society but decided that 100 models would be hard to attain. Therefore, the project was abandoned. Sunset now has the
plans for the VGN Electrics, but we have to wait and see if he gets enough orders. The N&W GP9 second run was a hit out of the ballpark thanks to Shellscale's paint chip and Scott sending me the plans
for corrections on the second run. It is rumored the steam will be abandoned by Sunset as of the cost and lack of orders.

Tom,
There were a lot of people that said the O scale N&W "M" project would not get done. Yet, before Mort Mann's passing, Mort said that the O scale N&W M would get done...and it DID! Thanks to Scott Mann for that!
Since then, I have asked Scott for an S1a. Thinking that it made business sense to do an USRA 0-8-0 that many roads used. Sadly, Scott says that he won't do any more brass steam locos!
Many here have expressed their desire for a Z1b. I could go for that, but, I would much rather have a Class K1...or an S1a...or an unstreamlined K2/K2a! Guess I'll be waiting in the big Call Office in the sky before any of these happen :(

Hi Michael
Sunset under their 3rd Rail brand produced the M in brass in O scale (both 2 and 3 rail in 2012/13). I own one. They can be found on the secondary market occasionally.
By the way the M was only produced do to the interest and lobbying if the former owner (late Joe Giannovario) of O Scale Trains and other members of the historical society. It was not an instant sell out.

I put in my wish earlier for a class Z steam engine. But what would make business sense would be a standard combination station that could sell to either the 2 or 3 rail community.

Maybe Bill Wade could chime in here.

Isn’t it strange that Sunset has had such success with various VGN models, and that most calluses of VGN steam have been produced in O, but never a class M.
