Thanks for that answer and info, David. I've always thought Strasburg 475
sounds sort of muted, or 'anemic' *. It definitely doesn't sound like the
A's and Y's. **Upon using the word anemic, I felt like I needed to check
for the actual definition. "Lacking in color, spirit, or vitality"; which
is exactly what I was thinking about the whistle, so perhaps I am using
that term correctly.*
I never considered that the earlier articulated engines would have had the
short bell, single-note whistle.
