Photo of a westbound (compass north) N&W train in the Scioto Valley passing Sargents, Ohio, north of Wakefield, in southern Pike County, 1952. This is from the Pike County Heritage Museums Facebook page.

I’ve marked the modern location with a google maps link, and included another link to a 1952 ODOT aerial. In the aerial, note the cluster of trees toward the right, with the slight kink in the road that matches the slight chicane around the tree seen in the photo. The white fence posts in the photo are visible in the aerial, and vice-versa for the culvert opening (under the third car). I can make myself believe the "Sargents" sign is just visible in the aerial. The whistle post in the photo for eastbound trains (thie train in the photo is westbound, toward Columbus) would be for the grade crossing about the center of the aerial photo.

The roads are much changed due to the quarry work and US 23 bypass. My assumption is that the road in the photo is the original US 23 route, before the ca 1953 improvements (these improvements were driven partly by the construction of nuclear fuel enrichment plant near Piketon).
