        <div dir="ltr" data-setdir="false">Very possible.  The boiler/firebox proportions on the A were not "average", i.e., what you would customarily expect.  The combustion chamber was very large and the flues were, contrary to contemporary trends, very long, something like 24 ft.  This indicates to me that the A's would not tolerate low grade coals.  N&W used coal that was in the range of 14,000 btu's.  Average would be in the 12,000 btu range.  Ash content would be another consideration, but I don't know enough about that to comment.</div><div dir="ltr" data-setdir="false"><br></div><div dir="ltr" data-setdir="false">Dave Stephenson</div><div dir="ltr" data-setdir="false"><br></div><div><br></div>
