<div dir='auto'>The Union Carbide plant did use a locomotive as a stationary boiler. My memory was that there were two engines there, maybe one just as a spare. I worked there from 1979 until 1992 or so, and manged to get a couple of guage light holders/hoods from some of the guys that worked on it. I gave one to the engine crew during one of the excursions out of Kenova in return for letting my boy climb up and look in the cab ( which they probably would have done anyway). The other one is maybe still in my basement somewhere. I was planning to turn it into a desk lamp but I haven't got to it yet. <div dir="ltr">N&W used boilers from scrapped locomotives as stationary boilers in many locations. The one in the Crewe roundhouse was from a Z1. The one at Pulaski was from an M (and I took a photo of it at Bluefield before it was installed in Pulaski.) This
one at Bristol looks like either an M or a W.</div>
