The Bowser cars is what caused me to raise this question? They look to be the same red-brown color as WM hoppers. When did these quad hoppers appear?</div>

I was under the same impression that some PRR quad hoppers were leased to both N&W and the VGN during the war. Bowser offers both N&W & VGN on their PRR Quads, so I am guessing they have some photographic evidence. </div>

Wasn't there discussion about this some time recently that there were red hoppers on the Virginian during WWII when the Pennsylvania Railroad sent cars to help cover a shortage?</div>
