<html><body>N&W took over the former W&LE ore docks and huletts at Huron, OH, with the NKP merger. I believe this was the only Lake Erie ore facility N&W ever operated. Since N&W had no dedicated ore cars that I am aware of, I assume they used standard hoppers, maybe gondolas, for hauling ore and taconite, only partially loaded. Were there any particular classes or types of cars N&W preferred for this service, or would any available hopper work? What about motive power? I assume they would have used 6-axles like for coal service.
