No idea of what was located but both Mullins and Itally were official stations in the 1929 Open & Prepay Station list.
The one that I have wondered about is West End Tower at Bluefield, WV.? ?Was there some type of office at the end of the yard controlling trains entering or leaving the yard on the Flat top Div?? Some of the valuations indicate a small single story building
but nothing to indicate any control of traffic.
From a 1917 copy of N&W Officers, Agents and Stations, heading West out of Bluefield there is shown a couple of listing with which I am not familiar.? Namely at MP 368 "Mullins" and at MP 369 Italy.? Does anyone have any information on these places?
Also, did the N&W maintain an agent at mines and other large shippers?
Jim,
What is covered in the Open & Prepay Station list? Do these terms refer to
methods of shipment? Is the list available in E format?
Thanks,
My sincere thanks to Mr. Dwayne Bartley, self-confessed first-time poster
to the N&W List, and to Mr. Ken Miller, Chief Petty Officer (Starboard
Side) of the Salem Grays and Patron Saint of Diuguids' Crossing, for their
generous answers to my benighted and fumbling questions about VGN passenger
service on the New River Division.

I genuinely appreciate the time you invested in helping me out. Thanks to
you both, I now have a pretty good feel for how these trains were handled.

And to Mr. Bartley... Please come back and contribute again ! As a
recompense for your kindness, here is a link to my Google Drive folder
holding all the Virginian RR images found in the John W. Barriger & Sons
Collection at the St Louis Mercantile Library. Everything has been edited
in Photoshop. Unfortunately, Mr. Barriger only left us undated negatives,
so you may have some guesswork to do.
This is the list of stations on file with the icc for all points where railroad service is available.? It contains any restriction for listed stations.? The stations are listed by states and railroads. I call them legal stations.? No other station station list
are not illegal.
Other? publications such as time tables and station list are for use by the various departments.??
Neither type of list has nothing to do with station buildings.
