Ballast Color

In the early 1960's, I recall ballast in the Shepherdstown area of 
the Shenandoah Division having a pink color, like crushed 
granite.  Anyone else remember seeing this shade of ballast?

I am reasonably sure that the Plum Run ballast was used system wide 
on the N&W in those days.  It sure was used on Scioto Division track 
in abundance.
