Not on this subject, but a warning to beware of truth in advertising.
Conned by the recent ads on TV about an "amazing new miracle product",
Fusion, Krylon's "no prep super bond" spray paint that "Bonds to plastic !", I went
to considerable effort to seek out a can to use on my recent project.
BAD IDEA ! But NOT for the reason you may suspect.
Fusion does exactly as claimed. But it had a side effect on my peoject that
I had never considered. It is TOO perfect !
I used it to paint the roof of my Mikes Train House Union Pacific combine.
The project was to convert the car to Pennsylvania livery, since I don't run
Union Pacific cars and the baggage doors have round windows, which are typical
of the Pennsy. The car came from ebay at a very reasonable price and I
already had suitable decals.
When I bought Fusion I was aware that it would yield a bright, shiny finish.
However, I had planned to add a final touch of Testors Dull cote as I had
done many times in the past to kill an unwanted shine.
I believe it was Robert Burns who said: "The best laid plans o' mice and men
go oft' astray !"
He may well have had me in mind. Dull cote did NOTHING to kill the mirror
like shine - which is certainly NOT representative of the roof of the prototype
car !
So BEWARE OF TRUTH IN ADVERTISING !
