After reading this discussion off and on for over a decade I am 
convinced that the only sure wrong is a train of matching cars.
If I put in a green Pullman and a redder Spectrum diner with my 
Rivarossi SL cars nobody notices any other variations.

   Model railroading is SUPPOSED to be for FUN ! Are you REALLY having 
any fun when you worry so much about getting a paint color "right" when 
apparently any number of colors appear on the prototype for the reasons 
previously noted ?
