Wafer Head Screws

Ed:  Look at wafer heads or the integral wafer/washer and countersunk heads
on the specialty screws used in building construction- Grabber or Compass
International.  There is a whole series of screws with washers and tapered
undersides with smooth faces or ribs underneath to cut into stringy or
harder materials ( like backer board).   These heads will spread the load
over more surface area.  I'm thinking a backer-board screw should be what
you want to use.
