Lois,
If  you purchase an "ancient" AHM Y6b it will have the deep flanges; however, these would not interfere if you are using Code 100 track; if you are using Code 83, it may be a problem.
You should look for the later run Rivarossi Y6b which came with smaller flanges; still no RP25, but much better and it can handle Code 83 track.
If you are only going to use it for a static display, and not run it at all, it probably doesn't matter which you end up with.

Very sorry this message got sent to both mailing lists. However, I do have another question. If I do decide to buy the old AHM Y6b, what would be the best idea for dealing with the oversize flanges? However, I would buy the engine just to sit in the roundhouse, as in my time period (mid-1950's) 2-8-8-2's were very common in Williamson...

One more request. If anyone has a Rivarossi Y6b they would like to sell, I wouldn't mind buying one or two to renumber 2194, etc.
I should note I saw the old AHM Y6b 2197 at the Rail Yard hobby shop near Roanoke but was not certain if I should buy, as  it probably had the oversize flanges.

The retirement date for Y6b 2194, and if any part of the 2194 (number plate, etc.) is still in existence.

Can anyone give me the retirement and/or scrap date(s) for Y3 No. 2003 ?  (The cut-up location would also be nice.)
