Thanks for the response.

My main interest is narrow gauge but decided that I wanted a Norfolk and Western train and the dealer had a J Class Loco and the 5 car Powhatan Arrow set.

Normally run my HO on friends layout but once electrics sorted out will be able to run on my layout.
Having looked at DVD of J's hauling the Powhatan Arrow is would appear that I will need some head end cars.

Your advise to look at Walthers and Con-Cor as well as Division Point is most useful. Noticed that MTH also has an RPO on their list but would think that is sold out .
Noticed on EBay a DVP brass Baggage Express  Car but that was in blue and also a BCW brass kit for a M53 Mail storage car.
My most likely course of action is to go with Walthers and Con Cor.

Thanks again for the advise, it was most appreciated

Phil Riley

I recently purchased a MTH J Class loco and 5 coaches which both look and run very well.
?
?Having viewed a few DVD's and read books I realise that I will require some head end cars ( baggage cars) and was wondering if anyone on list could point me in right direction to purchase some.
?
Thanks in advance
?

Walthers offers their Pennsylvania B60b baggage car in N&W, which is correct for a BEk class baggage car.  Con-Cor makes a correct N&W RPO,
but I believe they are only available in a two-pack with a coach (also correct).  The Walthers heavyweight baggage car is close to a BEg baggage, if you are willing to paint it.  The old Rivarossi/AHM RPO is also correct for N&W.  Division Point also recently released brass models of N&W M1 RPOs and BEj baggage cars.
If I may ask, what train are you planning on modeling?  Did you buy 5 separate coaches, or the 5 car Powhatan Arrow set?  If you bought the Arrow set, you don't need baggage cars, unless you are modeling the train late in its career.

Check out the Walthers 70' ACF baggage car. It is close to the N&W BEg. The old
Rivarossi (AHM) baggage-mail is close to the N&W BMf. And...Walthers once
offered an N&W BEk, which is the same design as the PRR B60 (the doors are
different). Most everything else you will have to kit-bash (unless you can
afford to buy brass from Division Point. They have a very nice M1 (very
expensive) and a BEj (also expensive)
