Color scheme for NW building and stations

Greetings

This question has probably been asked a few times I am sure but I am old 
and I forget.

What were the two main color schemes for N&W stations and way side 
building and what were the years when these schemes were used?

Anyone knowing when the older scheme was completely gone would also be 
helpful.

Bonus question- What are the best color matches available today?
