CF cupola corner rails

Does anyone have a suggestion on how to make the corner grabs of CF and other cabooses?  Many people put a lifting ring on the center of the grab but that isn't prototypical as far as I can tell.How did you jig it in order to solder or otherwise fasten the support to the grab iron?Thank you so much,Mike Shockley
