Anyone who wants to see what the inside of a switch tower looks like might consider a visit to the SoNo Tower Museum in South Norwalk, CT. It’s a preserved 1896 vintage New Haven interlocking tower.

David (and all), I’ve attached two photos, one of dad’s build of the AMB kit, the second an early-twenties interior shot. I have another interior photo from the early sixties, but it’s not wide enough to help with the lighting question.
That second photo is a crop from a photo that was probably taken for an N&W magazine article (If that speculation is correct, the I haven’t found the issue, or it wasn’t used) that I found while visiting the Pickaway County Historical Society. Side note: the two operators were husband and wife. There are more lamps than I remembered when replying this morning.
Given that photo isn’t watermarked, please consider limiting sharing.
@Bill D, I went back to the link in Mr Scheer’s original email and also couldn’t find the listing. It must have sold. It was a fair price.

I have a couple of interior photos of the tower at Circleville Ohio that I’ll send along later today, if no one else has gotten to it before me. They’re both early, so lighting was rather sparse.

Hi,
On a related note, what does the interior of these things look like?
They have huge windows and I have the structure lighting habit, the building could really benefit from an interior.
I have one that roughly a yard office on my home layout. It really was a nice kit, the stairs really make the kit.
Thanks,
David Baker

These do build up into a really nice tower. Does anyone know what color the blinds were that were used on sunny days.
Thanks

These build up into nice kits that match any number of towers along the line. The model can be shortened to match locations with smaller towers built to the same standard design.
