<html><body>The new Bachmann cars are new tooling, and have no relation to the old Rivarossi/AHM cars. They are also a separate release from the MTH/Fox Valley/ScaleTrains Arrow cars.<div><br></div><div>No, they are not N&W prototype. They are not "generic". Like virtually all model trains, they are based on some prototype. Yes, Bachmann, like almost every other model train manufacturer who has released a model that has only one or two accurate paint schemes, is putting other paint schemes on the model so they can get what they feel is a good return on their investment. And guess what? There are a lot of consumers within the hobby and business of model railroading who are just fine with that. </div><div><br></div><div>As for the price compared with ScaleTrains, Bachmann uses a far more common pricing and discount structure for retailers and consumers, one that allows dealers and brick and mortar hobby shops, most of which are small, locally owned operations, to make a profit on the sale of their products. ScaleTrains advertises what is essentially a false MSRP, selling their products directly to the consumer at a substantial discount to their so-called MSRP. They then offer their products to dealers at an extremely slim discount off their selling price, one that after credit card or online marketplace fees, leaves the dealer lucky to break even. While it could be said ScaleTrains is trying to control costs for hobbyists, they are doing so at the expense of hobby shops.<br><br>Marty Flick<br><div class="reply-new-signature"></div><p>-----------------------------------------</p>From: "NW Modeling List via NW-Modeling-List" <nw-modeling-list@nwhs.org><br>To: "NW Modeling List"<br>Cc: "NW Modeling List"<br>Sent: Thursday July 24 2025 9:10:42PM<br>Subject: New?
