I was going to try to send this out via snail mail but I am having trouble
accessing our bulk mail account from a post office other than Chalmette. I
will keep working on that option so I can reach everyone but this will have
to do for now. I would like to thank Westley for providing this vital
service and I invite to to join our ranks once we are all back home.

Brothers Knights and Ladies of Rummel Council:

For 40 years the Rummel Council of the Knights of Columbus has been a vital
part of the fabric of St. Bernard Parish. From our sponsorship of public
and parochial schools to our support of nursing homes and the battered
women's & children's shelter to the annual Louisiana Crawfish Festival
(which would have celebrated its 30th year in 2006) we have always been
there when someone in the parish was in need. We will return to that role
one we are able to rebuild our parish but now WE are the ones in need, just
like everyone else in our beloved parish.

I am sending out this message for a number of reasons...

Reason number one is the most important: I am trying to find out where all
of my brother Knights and their families are. Some of you have already
contacted me and I appreciate that. And I am aware that one of our members
is missing. Even if you have already contacted me, please take the time to
either e-mail me again at djbarrios00 at yahoo.com
<mailto:djbarrios00%40yahoo.com> or call me at my temporary
home in Assumption Parish at 985-631-2420. Also, if you are in contact with
a member of Rummel Council who does not have internet access, please pass
this information on to them.

Reason number two is to remind all of you to take advantage of all of the
resources that are available to us as evacuees. I know that calling FEMA
and the American Red Cross have been frustrating experiences at best but if
you have not already made contact with them, please continue to call. Also,
the state council has some funding for brother Knights and their families
who are in need. If you get me your contact information I can put the
proper people in touch with you. And if you have not already done so,
please get in touch with your insurance companies and get the claims process
started.

The third reason for this message is to inform you of the new Yahoo Group
that I have set up to keep us all in touch. Please take the time to join
this group and make it our home away from home. The address for the group
is groups.yahoo.com/group/Rummel5747
<http://www.groups.yahoo.com/group/Rummel5747> .

I look forward to hearing from all of you soon.

Vivat Jesus!

Darryl J. Barrios
Grand Knight
