Govenor Blanco and the Legislature urgently need to come together to help
the only public school system now out of business due to Katrina.  St.
Bernard Parish School Employees have lost their jobs, their medical
coverage, and in many cases their homes, family and friends. Retirees of the
school system find themselves without medical coverage and have little hope
of working for another parish and securing insurance.  Teachers were told to
find employment elsewhere.  That is easier said than done. Many other
parishes are only hiring displaced employees as substitute teachers without
benefits.  How can public school employees stay loyal to a state that
continually turns its back on them?

Politicians are always using education and teachers to seduce voters during
election time.  Now is the time to make it really known if they are indeed a
true friend of the educators of this state!  Find a way to continue medical
benefits for St. Bernard Parish School Employees!!!
