Commercial fishermen can sign up Wednesday and Thursday at Coast Guard
mobile unit to have boats salvaged.

St. Bernard Parish commercial fishermen whose boats were lost in Hurricane
Katrina can sign up Wednesday, Nov. 3 and Thursday, Nov. 4 at a Coast Guard
mobile unit in Chalmette to have their boats salvaged.

The sign-up period is 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., behind the parish government
building at 8201 West Judge Perez Drive, Chalmette, according to Parish
Council member Ricky Melerine.

The Coast Guard will place found boats in an area where they can be repaired
by their owners, Melerine said. He said most commercial fishermen likely
know where their boats can be found, but there may be some vessels in which
it is unclear who owns them.
