R. Daniel,

If you do not wish to salvage anything from your house and want it to be
taken down, we will just need to send you a demolition consent form. If
that is what you do, then you will still own the land and can rebuild on it
or sell it whenever you wish.

Good Luck and God Bless,

Hi Westley,

First of all, I want to thank you for the tremendous deed you're doing for
all St. Bernardians. I have relocated to Tennessee and it has truly been a
wealth of needed information!!

Here's the stupid question:

I am a homeowner of Chalmette, and although I've loved it the entire 32
years I've lived there, for health reasons, I'm not coming back :-( My
question is...Since I'm living in Tennessee and haven't been able to get
down to clear out personal possessions in my home, (I had 7 1/2 ft of water
in the house so undoubtedly there's not anything left to salvage) will the
parish declare it uninhabitable and/or blighted and bulldoze it? AND...if
they declare it uninhabitable and blighted, does that mean they will take
over my land or will I still own the land??? This is all sooo confusing for
me. I want to keep the land and eventually sell the land once it's deemed
safe (I was in the oil spill area). Is there an answer for this??

Thank you again,
R. Daniel
