I've heard numerous senarios about Fema monatary
compensation to Katrina victims. I've been told
several people have been contacting and are awaiting
the $26000. Does anyone know if each parish household
will qualify for this or only those without insurance.

Who knows... FEMA people keep giving contradictory answers... we have been
told by FEMA individuals canvassing St. Bernard to go back over to the
recovery center in the
Wal-Mart parking lot. I'm sure you have met those FEMA individuals who are
driving around with no answers just to say hello on behalf of FEMA... which
does us absolutely no good...

I mean it is nice to receive a hello but hey the National Guard is very good
at stopping and at least they ask if you need any help and try to answer
questions... We have had more success talking to the National Guard than to
FEMA... Why are these people with no answers on the payroll of FEMA... We do
not need more hellos... We need answers... and We don't need another person
to tell us to go to the recovery center as We are there often.

Well for my father at least there is a wonderful group of missionaries
helping him rebuild his house. Yesterday they came in and finished pulling
out the sheet rock and insulation and then the house has been sprayed to
kill mold. Over twelve men donated their day to finish this aspect of my
father's home... They are all from Oregon. What a nice group of men!!!

Slowly but surely the life is returning to my Father's block of Pelitere.
There is already one house which has finished all rebuilding and the owner
is living back in the Parish. My father is not too far behind as we have
already applied for the electrical permit as the electricians finished up
this week. It is nice to hear him getting excited as he finds out yet
another neighbor is returning. But do keep in mind the block that he is on
had water which came up and went down almost right away as he is very close
to St. Bernard Highway.

We are celebrating Thanksgiving in exile in Lafayette.
Happy Turkey Day!
