<No matter how long it takes, St. Bernard will not die, it is more a matter
of what our smaller, but better community will involve.>

Well Said.

You can't clean up after such an enormous disaster overnight.

Progress is being made daily but it has to begin with the removal of debris
and the repairing of the infrastructure. Each time I return, there is
noticeable improvement.

The people in the oil spill will have a harder time being convinced that it
is safe to return especially if they have young children like myself.

In the end, the parish will not die or fade away but it is ironic that the
biggest hindrance to rebuilding is the biggest asset: BIG OIL.

St. Bernard is full of headstrong people. No catastrophe on earth has ever
wiped out a way of life if there are survivors willing to return and
rebuild.

All the best to those down there working hard to rebuild the parish.
