St. Bernard doctors who left the parish are asked to call and register to
help patients locate them

St. Bernard Parish Coroner Dr. Bryan Bertucci is asking all medical
practitioners who have temporarily or permanently left St. Bernard to
contact his office so that a list may be compiled for patients to see where
doctors have relocated and whether they are returning.

The list would be placed on the parish government website, www.sbpg.net, and
forwarded to local media to reach St. Bernard residents trying to contact
doctors. Bertucci can be reached at (504) 450-1059, a cell phone number.

The St. Bernard Medical Center, a triple-wide trailer office located in the
southeast corner of the disaster assistance center in the Super Wal-Mart
parking lot on West Judge Perez Drive in Chalmette, is cutting back its
hours slightly.

Effective Tuesday, the medical center is opening at 8 a.m. and close at 6
p.m. all seven days a week. Formerly its operating hours were 7 a.m. to 7
p.m.

Also, the clinic will be closed on Sunday, Jan. 1, for the New Year holiday
and will be open 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 31 on New Year's Eve.
The center will reopen with normal hours on Monday, Jan. 2, officials said.

The center, staffed by the U.S. Public Health Agency and local physicians,
has been et a seeing 90 or more patients a day, Bertucci said.

He encourages older residents to use the center to get a free flu shot
because the flu has been reported in Louisiana.

reopened to traffic by the state on Dec. 23 for the first time since
