[StBernard] Free house gutting/property assessments

 How does one go about signing up for the free house gutting program that is
to begin soon?  
Also, if one has already paid to have the house cleaned and gutted, how is
one to request reimbursement form FEMA, as stated in the update on the
Parish website.

Regarding property assessments, I questioned the assessment of my home, a
few weeks ago, and, was told that there was no error in the data. (Had
"30%-60% damage - on a 2 -story home, that had approx 6.5' = 7' of water).
Since then, I have paid to have a structural engineer evaluate - -no damage
was found.  I also had the same for my mother and uncle's house - -as we
were trying to  do as the parish requested, and, keep things moving along.
Now, I see that the assesments are being questioned., The council has agreed
to waive the requirement for those properties in the 30 - 60% damaged range
and is awaiting the completed waiver agreement for implementation. Ain't
that great!  Who's gonna reimburse me?  I asked to have my rating
reevaluated, and, was told the rating was correct....So, now it appears I
have spent money 2x's unnecessarily - - gut the house, have the house
inspected - -both of  which I was prompted to have done by the Parish Govt,
so that a positive image couldl be shown, so that things would get moving
more rapidly, etc........   

Maybe I'm moving too fast..Instead of trying to curb the mold, I should have
let the houses sit and fester, and, then I' d have all of the sheetrock and
insulation removed - -FREE!   Maybe I should have waited until March 31 to
decide what to do with my investments, as it appears the parish Govt still
doesn't know what  they want me to do....    Each day I get more confused,
and frustrated, and I am quite sure I am not the only person with this
opinion. Until concrete answers are given, more and more people, like
myself, are making firm decisions to stay away, and, not return.....  we're
setting up households, elsewhere......
