[StBernard] Signs and the St. Bernard Business and Tourism Center

As stated in a previous correspondence on this site by Mrs. D. Keller, she
reminded us of the current requirements pertaining to placement of signs in
our  parish and suggested a controlled environment where businesses could
provide the information and parish residents looking for services could go
to the center and review services available. 
 
Why not include her suggestion to post the advertising infomation by
businesses as part of the services being provided by the St. Bernard
Business and Tourism Center.  They are already setting up this area  and
providing manpower to man the office for the business person to work in with
access to office machines and telephones.  Instead of signs the business
could provide a business card to be posted at the center.

"St. Bernard Business and Tourism Center, set up as a place where
businesses returning to the parish can have access to a computer, fax
machine and phones, has opened in a trailer office across from the old
Council on Aging next to the parish government building.
 
 ( Parish Tourism Director Elizabeth "Gidget'' McDougall will operate from 
the
office as well as the parish's Economic Development Commission.

The office is open 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday, according to
former Parish President Charles Ponstein, who is heading up business
redevelopment for parish government, but he said plans are to extend 
those
hours in the future.

He said returning businesses can access and send emails and do other 
needed
functions. "This can be an office away from their regular office until 
they
can come back,'' Ponstein said.

Parish Tourism Director Elizabeth "Gidget'' McDougall will operate from 
the
office as well as the parish's Economic Development Commission.
